Day of the Dead
Bay Saint Louis, MS - Come join us and the ancestors on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 6PM to 8PM for a celebration of Day of the Dead complete with a mariachi band, family altars, tacos and tamales for purchase, and a cash/credit bar. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 at the door.
Day of the Dead celebrates ancestors with All Souls' Day, a holiday in Mexico dating back to the early 1500s. The holiday, which is celebrated on November 1 and 2, is like a family reunion—except dead ancestors are the guests of honor. Day of the Dead is a joyful time that helps people remember the deceased and celebrate their memory.
Mariachi Jalisco, a four piece mariachi band, will perform traditional music and guests are invited to view the altars, dance, eat and drink!
Big Bertha’s Catering and Kitchen will be serving up tacos and tamales for purchase. Bertha began cooking at four years old and knew at 18 years of age that food was her passion. Bertha and her family owned a full-service restaurant in Slidell, and seven years ago she came to Bay Saint Louis to start her own catering company, Big Bertha’s Kitchen and Catering. Her specialty is soul food, which is why flavor is her main ingredient. Big Bertha is a member of the 100 WOMEN DBA.

El Día de Muertos celebra a los antepasados con el Día de Todos los Difuntos, un feriado en México que se remonta a principios del siglo XVI. La festividad, que se celebra el 1 y 2 de noviembre, es como una reunión familiar, excepto que los antepasados fallecidos son los invitados de honor. El Día de Muertos es un momento alegre que ayuda a la gente a recordar a los difuntos y celebrar su memoria.
Mariachi Jalisco, una banda de mariachis de cuatro integrantes, tocará música tradicional y los invitados están invitados a ver los altares, bailar, comer y beber.
Big Bertha's Catering and Kitchen servirá tacos y tamales para comprar. Bertha comenzó a cocinar a los cuatro años y supo a los 18 que la comida era su pasión. Bertha y su familia eran dueños de un restaurante de servicio completo en Slidell y hace siete años vino a Bay Saint Louis para iniciar su propia empresa de catering, Big Bertha's Kitchen and Catering.
