The final weekend of the 100 Men Hall's centennial programming culminates outside on the Tin Shed porch for a free community concert featuring Tomar and the FCs. Tomar and the FCs are a soul band from Austin, TX. This event, from 7 – 9 pm, is open to the public. There will be a cash/credit bar available and food for purchase.
Tomar Williams got his start singing lead on the Chitlin Circuit with his family band in the late 1980s. In 2015, after several decades as a music producer and side man, Tomar decided to return to his roots as a frontman. He was introduced to a local instrumental band, the FCs, and Tomar and the FCs was born. The band have three recordings, “Day by Day”, “Heart Attack”, and the latest, “Rise Above”, on Splice Records. They have toured all over the country and have performed at Austin City Limits Music Festival, SXSW, and in 2022, Bonnaroo. In 2023, they won best R&B band at the Austin Music awards and Tomar was named best male vocalist.
Food for purchase by BEACHSIDE’s Chef Joe Castoro. Chef Joseph, a graduate of the Florida Culinary Institute, brought his skills to the tiki bar and grill at Bay Marina, which his parents own and where his famous burgers had a following. After many years as a chef in fine-dining restaurants in south Florida, Michelle [Beauregard] said that Chef Joe had always wanted to do something like Beachside (~Lisa Monti, The Shoofly Magazine).
In the event of bad weather we will have the concert inside.
Four themed weekends: The Ancestors Weekend (June 17-19, 2022), The Chitlin’ Circuit (October 14-16, 2022), The Harlem Renaissance Weekend (February 3-5, 2023), and The Rise of the DJ/Disco Weekend (June 16-18, 2023).
