DAY 160 John Anthony Legier, Jr. photographed exclusively for the 100 Men Hall People Project (100MHPP).

This place been around a long time. My grandmother, Thelma Celestine, brought Fats Domino here. She was like a promoter. She would promote concerts and got Curtis Mayfield to go to New Orleans and got him at the Warehouse. She got William Bell to Houma for a concert. I was a teenager and came to the dances. After, when I would come from New Orleans during the summer time, in the 80s, the Hall wasn’t operating anymore. But the history of this place was here and I knew Bo & Dee. I never performed here, but Guitar Bo has. When they put the property up for sale, the guy who bought it, Jesse, we were supposed to get into a band together before he got the place and then he wound up getting the place. I had a chance to share the history. My mom, Sylvia Charles, told me about this project and that’s why I came today. My uncle was Tuny Domino, Fats Domino’s nephew. He and Fats used to hang together, and he used to play on my grandmother’s piano. My grandmother had a club called El Toro, and Fats would park his Rolls Royce in front of the door.
