Teenie [Rymsky’s husband’s great, great aunt, Celestine Vivian “Teenie” Labat] was a big thing here, she passed at 104, and I have a video of her talking about Creole history - PBS Mississippi Road Show about Creole History [link: http://si-siris.blogspot.com/2016/06/the-story-of-labat-creole-legacy-quilt.html]. It covered the train depot and how they would sell camellias to people traveling in from New Orleans. A man rode around on a horse that would light the street torches that were gasoline. My husband’s father had a haberdashery and a drycleaners and because of that my husband has a good eye and picks out my clothes and my daughter’s clothes. The population dwindled after Katrina and so the dry cleaners shut down.
