Multiple award winning jazz, funk and blues harmonica player, singer, songwriter Jason Ricci has played with, toured and recorded with some of the world’s most esteemed blues, jazz, rock and New Orleans musical legends. Jason is included in nearly every top ten and top twenty lists of harmonica players in magazines and all over the internet. His fascinating career and life has led him up to the highest musical mountain tops such as performing at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, recording a Grammy winning record with Johnny Winter, winning three Blues Music Awards and numerous nominations from The Blues Foundation only to fall all the way down to the lowest valley of addiction, homelessness, jails and back up again. Today his sincere recordings, shows, songs and incendiary harmonica playing continue to tell the story of life and garner new fans to add to an emotionally devoted following of dedicated music lovers. “Ricci played the Hall in our Harps on Fire show last year, to say I was in a state of rapture would be an understatement as to how Ricci’s playing affected me,” said Rachel Dangermond, Director of 100 Men Hall. “We are thrilled to have Jason Ricci and the Bad Kind on stage for our June blues brunch!”
Food available for purchase from Big Boyz BBQ. According to Dangermond, owner Rodney Beals has never met a stranger and his “butt-master” barbecue is in Beals’ blood — he’s been at the grill since he was 11 years old. He first started serving the masses at his famed annual barbecue that happened every spring at New Orleans’ famed City Park. Though his offerings started small, as these things often do, with just family and friends, over time, word got out about Beals’ tasty meats and soon, big crowds of people were making it a point to attend the event, just to get a taste of what “the mayor” was cooking. It was then that Beals knew he was on to something special and lasting, and his passion soon became his purpose.
